Loki Laufeyjarson

I could pick up the pieces
And try to play by the rules
I could dig down deeper and deeper
Like a holy, holy fool
— Love and Rockets, “Holy Fool”

Loki is the main protagnoist and anthihero/hero (depending on his mood) of Corner. He describes himself as being “around 2,000 years old”, but recognises that he is probably a lot older beyond the places his (very shakey) memory reaches. He is, more-or-less, the same Loki as appears in Norse mythology.

Nowadays, Loki usually splits his time between having wacky supernatural hijinks, ‘ruling’ and rebuilding Ásgard (largely in absentia), and uncovering more about his past self. He likes his ‘wife’, dark chocolate and alcohol, especially scotch whiskey.

Loki is always right, and he always wins. Even when he a) isn’t, and b) doesn’t. He is all ego, and utterly unapologetic for it. When forced to do something not specifically for his own gain, he will bitch and moan and act haughty throughout, though when it comes down to it, he is a very good ‘fixer’. He’s also a very good breaker, and is in no way afraid of a little destruction and mayhem. He revels in chaos with the absolute rock-solid certainty of someone who knows that, whatever the situation, things will turn out for the better, simply because they always have. His greatest strength is his unshakable belief in himself; it is also, of course, his greatest weakness. Apart from the mistletoe. Loki is not, however, un-self-critical or oblivious to his own flaws; it’s simply that, as a god, he doesn’t let introspection get in the way of what he knows, deep down, he intrinsically is.
